I’m marching in the Tamworth Melanoma March to raise funds for ongoing research by the Melanoma Institute of Australia contributing to the national goal of zero deaths from melanoma.
Raising awareness of the impact melanoma can have in your life is extremely important. My early years of sun exposure contributed to the Stage 4 Melanoma diagnosis I received in my late 50’s. To be given an average life expectancy of 18 months is very confronting.
Fortunately, I was accepted into an immunotherapy clinical trial sponsored by the Melanoma Institute Australia which extended my life. Unfortunately, not all trial participants survived and Australians continue to die from melanoma. Further research is desperately needed to reach the goal of zero deaths from melanoma.
